Nancy Drew is a talented young detective whose sense of self came from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine – until Nancy's college plans ruined by her mother's untimely death. Devastated by the death of her mother, thus counting the days, Nancy swears off crime-solving until she can re-apply to college. But when a socialite is killed, Nancy finds herself a top suspect in the murder, along with a group of other teenagers on the scene: Nancy's high school nemesis, George Fan; a rich girl with a mysterious past, Bess Marvin; Nancy's undercover boyfriend, Ned "Nick" Nickerson; and Ace's friendly burnout.The five of them have to team up to clear their own identities – discovering romantic entanglements along the way and even more mysteries. The reawakening of Nancy brings her into conflict with her widowed father, Carson Drew, who dates to the Detective Karen Hart. Then, when a mysterious force starts haunting Nancy's investigation, she figures out that the latest crime has an extraordinary connection to a local girl's long unsolved murder.
